Carrying Case - Artifact in detail

An ultra-light bag for your bikepacking adventures

The Artefact Vélo brand transport bag is designed to quickly transform a disassembled bike into luggage, perfect for train, car, or combined transport journeys. Ultra-light, compact, and completely upcycled, it quickly becomes essential for nomadic cyclists. Its design even allows the rear wheel to be retained on most bikes, except for XL frames with mudguards.

Upcycled, technical and responsible materials

Made from repurposed hot air balloon fabric and seat belts, this cover is part of a fully circular economy approach. The fabric is lightweight, flexible, and durable. Everything is sewn in a Breton workshop by refugee artisans with experience in sewing. It folds into a built-in pouch, with a carrying strap included.

Versatile, resourceful and ready for the unexpected

In addition to protecting your bike, the cover can be used as a rain poncho, a changing room, or as an underlay for your mattress if you sleep in a tarp. It offers a smart, multifunctional solution for anyone traveling by bike, without sacrificing weight, space, or production ethics.

FAQ

Everything you need to know about the Artefact bike transport cover

What types of bikes are compatible with this cover?

It is compatible with road, gravel, and mountain bikes up to size XL without mudguards. In most cases, it is possible to leave the rear wheel in place, which simplifies disassembly.

What are its dimensions and weight?

Unfolded, the cover measures 130 cm wide, 90 cm high and 22 cm deep, dimensions accepted by SNCF and Ouigo. The total weight is 310 g for the cover + pouch, and an additional 100 g for the included carrying strap.

What materials are used to make it?

It's made from upcycled hot air balloon fabric and seat belts for the strap. This choice offers exceptional lightness, good strength, and very low environmental impact.

Is the cover waterproof?

The fabric is water-repellent, designed to resist splashes of water and moisture. In case of heavy rain, it can also serve as an improvised poncho, making it a versatile travel ally.

How does it store when not in use?

The cover folds into its own sewn-in pocket, with a final volume of 45 cl. It easily fits in a bag or backpack without taking up space.

Where is the Artefact cover made?

It's made in Brittany, in a workshop that employs refugee artisans with experience in sewing. The label says "Portugal" because it couldn't be changed in time, but the production is indeed French.
